![]() I¿ll try to explain.įor those who haven¿t read the book, Stephen King¿s Hearts in Atlantis was a series of interconnected novellas and stories detailing the events and effects of the 1960¿s from their dawn to the present day. But in this case, it¿s a little more complicated. Movies should, absolutely, be considered apart from the books they are adapted from. This is not meant to be one of those reviews that talks about the changes the filmmakers made in the book and attacks the movie for somehow ruining the book. Unfortunately, this particular Stephen King adaptation presented some challenges that were fairly well insurmountable within the context of a normal feature film. Which is smart, I suppose: Hearts in Atlantis, book and film, is much closer in territory to Stand by Me, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile than it is to Carrie or The Shining. ![]() ![]() ![]() It's amusing to note that the man¿s name is still so synonymous with telekinetic teens and haunted hotels that a ¿prestige movie¿ like this one opts instead to describe its parentage as ¿from the author of The Green Mile¿ in trailers and TV ads. The film isn¿t, of course, being marketed as a Stephen King adaptation. ![]()
